HISTORIC GRANBURY GUNSLINGERS

Mission Statement

The Historic Granbury Gunslingers are reenactors of American History from 1860 to 1890.  After the Civil War, many came  west looking for a new start after the war had destroyed so many homes and lives.  To settle a country all alone, the settlers endured hardships that most cannot conceive.  The cattlemen came to a harsh country with no law and natives who did not want them on thier land.  Thus the American Cowboy was born and all that comes with him.  While it is true that some were rustlers and others were professional gunslingers, the average American Cowboy was often lonely,  living in harsh conditions.....frequently exposed to danger, but always kept their humor and joked about everything.  They did not make much money and enjoyed a simple way of life.  They were reserved around strangers, did not tolerate meanness, cowardice, dishonesty, chronic complaining or mistreatment of the lady folk...who were scarce on the wild frontier.  Tough as nails, but generous and hospitable, these were the true Wild West American Cowboys, an integral part of American History.

These are the men and women who the

Historic Granbury Gusnlingers want to keep alive and relevant.
